Game guide · everything you need to play
Your friendly field guide to the valley, how to sign in, what to do, where the rare fish hide, how the money works, and what's actually on-chain. Skim the sidebar, or read it cover to cover.
VoxelValley plays right in your browser, no download, no install. Open the game and you're in the valley in under a minute.
To play and keep your progress, connect a Phantom wallet set to Solana Devnet. This is a devnet test build, so there's no real money involved, only test SOL. You'll sign a one-time message to prove the wallet is yours; that's your sign-in. From then on, your progress is saved to the cloud per wallet, so your valley follows you wherever you log in.
New to Phantom? Install the Phantom browser extension, create a wallet, then switch the network to Devnet in Phantom's settings. You can grab free test SOL from a devnet faucet, none of it is real.
Click Spectate, no wallet required. You'll roam the Plaza and the gather map with a free camera, watching the world (and other players) go by. It's the easiest way to get a feel for the valley before you commit.
Movement is built for both keyboard and touch, pick whatever's comfy.
The action key is context-aware: stand near water and it casts a line; stand by a crop and it harvests; stand by an NPC and it opens a chat. Walk up, tap Space, see what happens. To sail, though, you'll want the Set Sail button or the B key.
The valley is made of a few distinct areas you'll travel between as you play.
The social hub. Market stands, the auction house, a Boat Shop on the south shore by the docks, a Home & Garden shop, a pond, and crowds of other players. Most journeys start here.
Your private farm and animal pen. Till and plant the land, raise livestock, and sell produce from the shipping bin.
The gather map. Forage wood, stone, fibre, clay, coal, herb, plus iron ore and gemstones for crafting.
Sail out across open water to four islands, the Cove, the Reef, and the Ruins, where the rarest fish live, plus Sundune, a huge desert island far to the south, home of the Crystal Bazaar.
On your home plot you'll till the soil, plant seeds, water them, and come back to harvest when they're grown. Watered crops grow faster, so keep your rows topped up. Each planted tile shows a countdown timer, watch it tick down to Ready.
Don't let it rot! A ripe crop left in the ground too long (more than 12 hours past ripening) will rot away, the plant wilts brown and the harvest is lost, freeing the soil to replant. The timer warns you how long until it spoils. Equip the Plow for a chance to recover seeds when you harvest in time.
Raise a cow, chicken, sheep, and pig in your pen. The key rule: animals must be fed before they'll produce, and they eat crops you grow on your own farm. Chicken, sheep, and cow eat grass; pig eats turnips. So grow grass and turnips alongside your other crops to keep the pen fed. A fed cow gives milk, a fed chicken gives eggs, a fed sheep gives wool, and so on. Hungry animals produce nothing.
A rare Dragon Hatchling can join your pen too, bought at Sundune's Crystal Bazaar for crystal. It eats grass like the others, and sheds prized Dragon Scales.
Drop crops and produce into the shipping bin to sell them for Gold. It's the steady, reliable way to turn your farm into income while you're off doing other things.
Log in each day to claim a daily reward, gold plus the occasional seed bundle. Keep a streak going and the rewards escalate over the week to a day-7 jackpot, then cycle. Miss a day and the streak resets, so pop in daily!
Feed your animals before you head out fishing or sailing, they'll have produce waiting for you when you get back.
Your home grows with you. Upgrade your house through four tiers, Cottage → Log Cabin → Stone Farmhouse → Crystal Villa, at the Home & Garden shop in the Plaza, or by clicking your house at the home plot.
Each upgrade now grants real advantages that stack as you climb the tiers: +5-15% sell gold, faster crop growth, and faster animal produce. Worth the investment.
Builds take time. Starting an upgrade kicks off a 12-hour build, pay the gold + materials, then come back when it's done to move in. In a hurry? Burn $VXL to rush it: each 1,000 $VXL skips an hour, and that $VXL is permanently burned (deflationary, it leaves the supply for good). Pick how many hours to skip and approve the burn in your wallet.
Buy placeable decor, lamp posts, benches, flower beds, fountains, gnomes, topiary, and more, at the same Home & Garden shop. Then head home and hit the Decorate button to open a simple editor: pick an item, a ghost preview shows where it'll land, and you click to place it. A Remove tool picks pieces back up whenever you fancy a rearrange.
Decor is yours to move around freely, experiment with layouts, then pull pieces back up with the Remove tool and try again.
Fishing is a two-phase minigame. First you cast your line and wait for a bite; then comes the reel / drill phase, where you fight to land the catch. Nail it and the fish is yours.
There are 39 species to catch, spanning rarities from Common all the way to Mythic. Where you fish matters:
A better rod raises your odds of rare catches and makes the reel-in easier. There are four tiers, each with a distinct look in your hands:
Equip rods at the Boat Shop's Rods tab. The luck stacks on top of the location bonus, so the best rod at the Ruins on a full moon is the optimal Mythic-hunting setup.
Every species you catch is logged in your Fishdex. Catch all 39 to complete it and earn the exclusive Master Angler's Crown, the ultimate bragging right for completionists.

Want the rarest catches? You'll need a boat. Common and Uncommon fish are everywhere, but Legendary and Mythic only surface out at the islands, see Sailing & islands.
To reach the rare-fish waters, you'll need a boat. Build your first boat at the Boat Shop, a storefront on the south shore of the Plaza, then walk to the dock, where you actually set sail (click Set Sail or press B). The Boat Shop is where you build, upgrade, and skin your boat; the dock is just the launch point.
Set out across the open sea to the four islands, the Cove, the Reef, the Ruins, and Sundune. When you're sailing near a shore, a Go Ashore button lets you land and explore on foot.
Once ashore, you can gather each island's signature resource on foot. These feed exclusive island crafts (see Gathering & crafting).
Sundune is a huge desert island far to the south. Its Crystal Bazaar trades exotic goods for rare materials, crystal and gemstone rather than Gold. Stock includes a Dune Dragon mount, desert outfits, and the rare Dragon Hatchling farm animal.
Boat skins are purely cosmetic, they change how your boat looks, not how it sails. Craft them at the Boat Shop, and equip owned skins either there or in your Wardrobe → Boat tab (the wardrobe now has separate Character and Boat tabs).
Mythic fish live only at the Ruins. If you're chasing a complete Fishdex, that's where the final, hardest catches are waiting. Sundune is for the bazaar and sunstone, not for fishing.
Out in Stonebrook Hollow you'll gather raw materials: wood, stone, fibre, clay, coal, herb, plus the more valuable iron ore, gemstones, and the top-tier crystal. Bring them back and turn them into useful things at tiered crafting stations.
You carry one equipped tool at a time. Craft a tool, then open your Inventory and hit Equip (the tool also appears in your character's hand). The equipped tool decides what you can gather and gives a yield bonus, with no tool equipped you can still gather the basics (wood, stone, clay, fibre), but none of the rarer materials. Swap tools to switch jobs:
The starter station. Makes planks, rope, tools, and backpacks (more inventory space).
Combines ore + coal into iron bars, plus bricks and glass for bigger builds.
Crafts lanterns, furniture, barrels, and decor to dress up your space.
Refines a gemstone → polished gem → gem ring, and forges the Gem Pickaxe, the high-end crafting chain.
The deepest crafts reward your rarest materials and your island travels:
Craft a backpack at the Bench early, more inventory slots make gathering trips far less fiddly.
There are three currencies in VoxelValley, and they each do a different job. The big one to remember: Gold is what you spend in shops, while $VXL powers the auction house.
Earned just by playing, selling crops, produce, fish, and crafts at the shipping bin. It's what you spend on cosmetics, supplies, and almost everything in the shops. Since the auction house runs on $VXL only, Gold is effectively a player-traded commodity too: you can list Gold on the auction and sell it for $VXL.
$VXL is earned through play, there's a testing faucet, and you get a small bonus when you sell fish NFTs. Crucially, $VXL is also what you spend to bid on and buy listings at the auction house. So you both earn it and spend it.
The SOL in your wallet is plain devnet test SOL, no real money. It's used for on-chain gas and signing, but it is not used to buy Gold and it's not the marketplace currency; the auction house settles in $VXL.
The auction house in the Plaza is a player-run marketplace. List your catches, crops, crafts, even Gold, as timed ascending auctions, and let other players bid them up. Everything is bid on and bought with $VXL.
A flat 5% sale fee applies, all in $VXL, split as:
Your best catches become real, ownable collectibles. Epic, Legendary, and Mythic fish mint to your wallet (on devnet) as compressed NFTs (cNFTs), which are far cheaper on-chain than regular NFTs. Everything else stays in your regular inventory. In the Vault, each fish shows a cNFT/NFT badge that links straight to the Solana explorer.
Open the Fish NFT Vault to manage your minted catches. From there you can:
Selling and trophy trades both burn the fish, and every burn is verified on-chain, so a traded-away catch really is gone.
Selling or trading a fish NFT is permanent. If you're going for a complete Fishdex, the catch is already logged the moment you reel it in, burning the NFT later doesn't un-log it.
Customize your character with a wardrobe of hats, outfits, and accessories, and pick a boat skin from the dedicated Boat tab. Most items are bought with Gold; some are premium or earned through play.
Rideable mounts let you roam the valley in style. There's a pony, frog, and snail bought with Gold; a premium alpaca and dragon via your wallet; and Sundune's Dune Dragon from the Crystal Bazaar. You can also earn a mount through the trophy trades, for example by trading 3 Mythic fish (see Fish NFTs).
Companions are little pets that follow you around, and each carries a buff. Depending on the pet you might get better selling, faster gathering, gather luck, or faster crop growth. You can get them via Gold, crafting, achievements, or as premium wallet NFTs.
VoxelValley runs on Solana devnet and uses Phantom for sign-in. Here's what's actually on the blockchain versus what lives off-chain.
The $VXL token, your fish cNFTs (and their burns), and $VXL settlement on the auction house.
Your game save, farm, inventory, Fishdex progress, is stored in the cloud, keyed to your wallet.
This is a devnet demo. Everything uses test SOL, there is no real money at stake. Connect freely and experiment.
Do I need a wallet?
To play and save progress, yes, connect Phantom on devnet. To just watch, no, hit Spectate and roam with a free camera, no wallet needed.
Is this real money?
No. It's a Solana devnet build using test SOL only. Nothing here costs or pays out real money.
How do I get Gold fast?
Sell your crops, produce, fish, and crafts at the shipping bin, and trade on the auction house, you can even list Gold there for $VXL, or sell other goods to build up a stash.
Where are boat skins?
At the Boat Shop on the Plaza's south shore, craft them there and equip them at the shop or in your Wardrobe → Boat tab. They're cosmetic only.
How do I set sail?
Build a boat at the Boat Shop, then stand at the dock (water's edge) and click Set Sail or press B. While sailing near a shore, a Go Ashore button lets you land.
How do I place decor?
Buy decor at the Home & Garden shop, head to your home plot, and hit the Decorate button. Pick an item, a ghost preview shows where it'll go, then click to place, and use the Remove tool to pick pieces back up.
How do I get rare fish?
Sail to the islands. Legendary fish appear only at the island regions (Cove / Reef / Ruins), and Mythic appear only at the Ruins, and they're very rare.
What can I do with $VXL?
Spend it on the auction house. $VXL is the marketplace currency, you bid on and buy listings with it. You earn it through play (a testing faucet, plus a small bonus when you sell fish NFTs).
How do I complete the Fishdex?
Catch all 39 species. You'll need a boat to reach the islands for the Legendary and Mythic tiers. Finish it to earn the Master Angler's Crown.
My animals aren't producing anything?
They need to be fed first, and they eat crops you grow. Chicken, sheep, and cow eat grass; pig eats turnips. A hungry animal won't give eggs, milk, or wool, so grow grass and turnips to keep them fed.
